Select A Real Estate Agent
Real estate agents help identify properties, get information on the
market, and negotiate the offer. While many of these details are now
online, a good agent can be a valuable asset to help guide you through
the process and represent your best interests.
Tips for Finding An Agent:
- Referrals are your best bet. Ask friends, co-workers, your lawyer, or financial
advisor. Their positive experience will speak louder than a glossy
advertisement.
- If you're moving to a new area and can't count on a friend's referral, inquire
with the local Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau. Alternatively,
ask an agent you trust to recommend someone in the area you're moving to.
- Interview agents at Sunday open houses in areas where you want to live.
What To Ask:
- How long have you been an agent?
- Are you a full-time real estate professional or do you work part-time?
- When are you available to show properties?
- How familiar are you with the neighborhoods in which I’m interested?
- How long have you (or your firm) been in business?
- How many homes have you sold over the past year?
- How many other buyers/sellers do you currently represent?
- Do you have access to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS)?
- Are you a member of the National Association of Realtors?
